This is my right eye! 0__0
All the blood vessels you see are the retinal blood vessels. The opaque middle object is my iris and cornea. The bright circular disk is the optic disk where all my optic nerves enter/exit to obtain information from all the ganglion cells & photoreceptors to ze brain.
My optometrist was nice enough to email me these, and talk to me about post bacc schooling. I have a healthy eye! I might be blind as any other asian… but its healthy!
The reason for these eye photographs is to look for signs of the following common diseases:
- Diabetic retinopathy: if this was occurring you would see damage to the blood vessels of the retina.
- Glaucoma: a disease that effects and would show a damaged optic nerve that results in vision loss and blindness.
